Snooker Aces - Privacy Policy

Who we are

Snooker Aces is published by Fekete Hal Informatikai Korlátolt Felelősségű Társaság (Fekete Hal Kft.), Jókai utca 18. 3. ajtó, 6100 Kiskunfélegyháza, Hungary, tax number 24909958-2-03, EU VAT number HU24909958. We are the controller of the data described here. Contact: [email protected].

What our server keeps

You can play without an account, as a guest. Either way our server keeps:

Other players see your name, flag, rating and place on the weekly board, and in online matches the frame round your emblem and, if you own the Founder pack, your name in gold. We use the data only to run the game: to keep your progress, match you with players of your level, referee online frames, keep ratings, rank the weekly challenge and, if you allow it, tell you about a new weekly challenge or being overtaken on its board. The legal basis is the performance of our contract with you (GDPR Article 6(1)(b)); notifications rest on your consent, which you can withdraw in the settings at any time.

Counts without names

To see which of the game's offers help and which annoy, the app sends us anonymous counts: that an offer was shown or opened, that a free trial started, that something was bought or a video watched, and once a day how many days since the app was installed. Each carries only the day, what happened, where in the game, how you mostly play (practice, online or the shop) and whether your install is among the one in ten that sees no ads between frames. It carries no name, account, device identifier or address, and we keep only how many of each there were on each day. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in improving the game (GDPR Article 6(1)(f)).

On your device only

An unfinished frame stays on your device and is never sent to us.

Measuring our ads

We advertise the game on Facebook and Instagram. To learn which ads bring players, the app uses Meta's software development kit, which sends to Meta Platforms Ireland Limited: that the app was installed and opened, purchases in the shop (product and price), four moments in the game (the first frame finished, a frame finished online, coming back on the third day, the tutorial finished), your device model, system version, language and time zone, and the IP address of the connection. It sends no name, email address, player name or game content.

After your first frame the app asks once whether it may track you (Apple's App Tracking Transparency). Only if you allow it is your device's advertising identifier sent as well, so Meta can link the install to the ad you saw; you can change this at any time in the iPhone's Settings, Privacy & Security, Tracking. Without it Meta receives the data above without that identifier, and Apple reports installs to Meta only in aggregate (SKAdNetwork). The legal basis is our legitimate interest in knowing which of our ads work (GDPR Article 6(1)(f)) and, for the advertising identifier, your consent (Article 6(1)(a)). You may object by writing to us. Meta is jointly responsible with us for collecting and sending this data, and uses it under its own privacy policy.

Ads in the free game

The free game shows ads from Google AdMob (Google Ireland Limited): a video only when you ask for one in exchange for coins, and between frames at most every three minutes, never during play. Before any ad the app asks for your consent where the law requires it; you can change your choice at any time in Settings, Privacy choices. Google receives your device's advertising identifier (only if you allow tracking), an identifier for the app on your device, your IP address and how you interact with the ads, and uses them under its own advertising policies; with your consent it may personalise the ads. The legal basis is your consent (GDPR Article 6(1)(a)). Players who bought "remove ads", Pro members, and players on a free Pro day see no ads between frames, and neither does one install in ten, chosen at random, so we can measure what ads cost the game.

Crash reports

When the app crashes or meets an error it did not expect, it sends a report to Sentry (Functional Software, Inc.), which keeps it in its EU data centre in Germany for us as our processor. A report holds what went wrong and where in the game's code, the app's version, facts about the device such as its model, system version, language, time zone, screen, graphics chip, battery, free memory and storage, the app's own recent log lines (which name no player), and a random identifier the app makes for this install. Nothing is sent when the app runs without a fault. It holds no name, player name, account, email address or advertising identifier, and Sentry does not store your IP address. Our server reports its own errors to Sentry the same way, without your address or anything that names you. Only release builds on phones send reports. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in finding and fixing faults (GDPR Article 6(1)(f)); you may object by writing to us.

How the game is used

To learn which parts of the game work and which lose players, the app sends PostHog (PostHog Inc.), which keeps them in its EU data centre in Germany for us as our processor, a few events: the first launch, each step of the tutorial finished or the tutorial skipped, a frame finished (what kind of frame and whether you won), a purchase started or completed (the product only, not the price or the payment), and a challenge solved (which one and its stars). Each event carries the time, the app and system version, the device model and screen size, and a random identifier PostHog's software makes for this install; no name, player name, account, device or advertising identifier, and PostHog does not store your IP address or look up where you are. Where the law requires consent, the app asks for it in the consent form it shows before ads, as the publisher's own purposes (storing on your device, improving the product). Until you have said yes, nothing about these events is sent or kept on your device; with your yes they go out in small batches, and wait on the device while it is offline. If you say no, or later withdraw, what PostHog's software kept on the device is deleted. You can change your choice at any time in Settings, Privacy choices. The legal basis is your consent (GDPR Article 6(1)(a)), and elsewhere our legitimate interest in improving the game (Article 6(1)(f)).

What we do not collect

No email address, real name, precise location or contacts. We do not sell your data.

Where the data is kept

On our own server in Hungary. The connection to it runs through Cloudflare, Inc., which carries the traffic and therefore processes your IP address as our network provider; we do not store IP addresses. Notifications are delivered by Apple. Purchases are made with Apple or Google under their own privacy policies; we receive no payment details. Purchases are confirmed for us by RevenueCat, Inc. (USA), which receives your player number and the store's receipt as our processor, under the EU Standard Contractual Clauses. Crash reports are kept by Sentry and usage events by PostHog, both in the EU as described above; both are US companies and work for us under the EU Standard Contractual Clauses. Encrypted copies of the database are kept for 30 days in Cloudflare R2 storage in the EU, so the game can recover from a failure.

How long we keep it, and deleting it

For as long as you play; backups age out 30 days after. Sentry deletes crash reports after 90 days. You can delete your account and everything the server keeps about you at any time in the game: Settings, then Delete account. You can also write to us. The scores of your online frames stay, linked to no account, so your opponents' weekly lists do not change.

Your rights

You may ask for access to, correction or deletion of your data, restriction of its use, a copy of it, or object to its use, by writing to [email protected]. You may also complain to the Hungarian data protection authority (Nemzeti Adatvédelmi és Információszabadság Hatóság, naih.hu) or the authority where you live.

Children

The game is rated 13+ on the App Store. We do not knowingly collect more data from children than described above.

Changes

We will post any change here with a new date.
